Designing The Model Home

Timber Ridge Estates Model Home

Our owner and developer Brenda Richey had a vision for the perfect model home to be built on the homesite overlooking the gated entrance.

For months, she worked with builder Luke Fitzgerald, architect Michael Fittz (bldg. Architecture)  and interior designer Debra Coffey (Interior Insights) to bring her vision to life. Debra’s role was to ensure that the model home reflected the high standard of design and quality that Timber Ridge owners envision for their own homes.

Brenda and Rob had worked with Debra before on their own home in Plano, Texas and first mentioned the property to Debra last winter and knew she had to work on this project as well. Debra has a keen eye for detail, and loves to create unique, high-end spaces that are as beautiful as they are functional.

When working with our build and design team, Brenda started with a Pinterest board to ensure her vision stayed in focus throughout the process. With delays from covid, and site considerations, it was important that as decisions were made, each member of the team understood the vision and goal of the project.

Sourcing Materials

Whether you’re building your dream cabin or a home in the suburbs, having a licensed interior designer help make decisions, source materials, and work with your builder to ensure perfection is key.

Debra worked with her favorite vendors in Dallas to source and supply the team with gorgeous finishes throughout the home, ensuring each component was delivered on time and in the right quantity.

Once slabs were delivered, she even worked remotely with the team to cut and position them to highlight the natural beauty of the stone. We absolutely love how every inch of the build turned out - and the construction team even commented that she helped make their job easier!

Technology and Working remotely

Designing a home is a hands-on process, and really requires the owner, designer, builder and architect to work together. Being in two different states could have made this very difficult, but thanks to technology, Deb and Brenda were able to manage the entire project easily thanks to FaceTime.

When the inevitable snag was hit, Debra’s responsiveness and ability to share options quickly over video chat ensured everyone was on the same page and pleased with the decisions being made.

The Grand Reveal

Brenda scheduled the Fall owner’s party to coincide with the grand reveal of the model home. Styling a home takes a keen eye for detail and a lot of hard work. Debra arrived a few days before the party with a van full of rugs, art and accessories she and Brenda selected and transformed the cabin into a show stopping, cover-worthy home.

Every space was designed to highlight the natural beauty of the surrounding area and provide a comfortable setting to enjoy life as nature intended.

The party was a huge success, and we loved seeing the wide-eyed looks as people wandered from room to room, taking in the incredible transformation. Every person who has toured this home has remarked on the fantastic quality of the build, the overall design and layout that they want to include in their own home a Timber Ridge.
